Holmes, Taylor, Athey, Cowan & Jones LLP was established in June 2013. Its founding partners — Andrew B. Holmes, Matthew D. Taylor, and Stephen P. Jones — were all alumni of a noted “white collar” litigation boutique which had dissolved in 2007. In the intervening years, the founding partners discovered that the way they had been taught to practice at this firm was the exception, rather than the rule. And so they decided to come back together to establish a firm that follows the guiding principles that they had been taught. As it has grown, the firm has continued to follow them, adding new partners who subscribe to the same proven philosophy.
Everything You Need, Nothing You Don’t.
We are not a “teaching hospital.” We take a lean approach to staffing, so our clients benefit from our unique expertise without inefficient task management, or resulting bloated billing.
Small and Responsive.
We are small by design. No hierarchy, no bureaucracy, no committees. You will deal with a partner, not a junior attorney. Each decision in your case will be made by you and that assigned partner. You will have our cell phone numbers. Whenever possible, we will pick up. And in any event, your calls will always be returned. Your questions will always be answered. You will always be consulted. And you will always know what we’re doing on your case.
Our partners bring years of that experience to the table. With the SEC. With the California Department of Business Oversight. (Formerly the Department of Corporations.) With the United States Department of Justice, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, and the Los Angeles and Monterey County District Attorney’s Offices. We know how they do what they do, and we use that experience to benefit you.
Better Hourly Rates — for Exceptional Representation
Whether your matter is “bet the company” civil litigation, an SEC investigation that could potentially cost you your life’s savings — or for that matter, your actual liberty is at stake — this isn’t the time to be penny wise and pound foolish; and yet, if you’re an executive or professional at a start-up, or even at a small to medium-sized company, national “white shoe” firms that often charge in excess of $1,000.00 per hour are likely beyond your reach. Our work is not cheap, and we do not skimp on the necessities. But our rates, while reflecting our experience and expertise, also reflect our leaner structure and lower overhead.
